Choose the right chart

A useful chart starts with a question, not a visualization type.

Decide in less than a minute

If your question is…	Start with…	Plant example

Start simple

First verify that the query answers your question. Colors and visual details come later.

Open the selector

1. Open Charts.
2. Click + Chart.
3. Select the data source.
4. Select the chart type.

CORE FIELD asks for the source first and the visualization second.

Use a line for sensor measurements

When a measurement changes continuously—speed, temperature, pressure—a line makes its path and sudden changes easy to see.

The example thumbnail helps confirm the type before creating it.
